Glassbeam and Mobile Imaging Services Market

Last week we announced our expanded solution for healthcare industry by including mobile MRI and CT Scanners in our CLEAN™ blueprint (Clinical Engineering Analytics). What this means is that Glassbeam solution can now address a major part of projected $13B market in this segment by 2020.

With over 7,000 hospitals in the country, there are still many rural areas that have only small hospital facilities which service proportionately small communities.

These smaller facilities cannot afford to have their own MRI units and must weigh the disadvantages of referring their patient outside their network for MRI services versus collaborating with other small hospitals and entering into a joint radiology venture to contract for mobile services. This shared service scenario is becoming more common every day as facilities look for cost efficiencies without having to compromise their service lines and face the prospect of losing patients.

As in any good solution creation, including mobile imaging assets into our analytics solution scope came on the heels of requirement put forth by one of our leading customers that has a large fleet of MRI machines on the wheels. We had already implemented our analytics on the stationary assets for them across 15 facilities in 3 states, and the missing link was these mobile units now.

Our solution engineering innovated and delivered on the concept of a resilient 4G LTE solution that could auto-recover from connectivity failures and became pluggable directly to the host computer and magnet monitor for these machines. The raw machine log data is collected at the frequency desired, through a secure transport. This enabled Glassbeam to Aggregate all CT and MR equipment in one unified portal, regardless of location or manufacturer (currently supporting GE and Siemens). It also builds on the value of CLEAN blueprint by being able to proactively monitor system and environmental parameters such as temperatures, magnet pressure, cryogen levels, compressor runtime etc. In addition, the dashboards allow one to understand asset utilization by aggregating exam duration and facility operating hours, and also lets clinical engineering (or bio med staff) to rank systems by most and least utilized.
