While October is typically a bad month for the stock market, it is clearly not the case for the IoT industry. While we all know IoT is becoming increasingly important in a wide range of industries, it was good to see IoT-related announcements over the last week from three technology leaders.

At Amazon’s recent re:Invent developer conference in Las Vegas, the company announced a new Internet of Things (IoT) platform called AWS IOT. This platform is currently in beta and is available to AWS subscribers. The AWS IoT platform offers organizations a way to connect their devices to the AWS cloud as well as collect, store and analyze the large amounts of data streaming from these devices.

Microsoft recently announced its new MICROSOFT AZURE INTERNET OF THINGS SUITE, which allows organizations to take better control of their assets to improve efficiency, enhance operational performance and facilitate innovation. The suite includes dashboards and analytics tools to provide rapid access to data. It also includes pre-configured solutions to help organizations get started quickly, as well as a certification program to ensure other platforms and devices can integrate with the Azure platform.

At its Dreamforce conference mid-September, Salesforce announced its SALESFORCE IOT CLOUD, which integrates data from a wide range of devices, sensors and applications to secure new performance insights. According to the announcement, “IoT Cloud connects billions of events with Salesforce, unlocking insights from the connected world that empower anyone to take the right action, for the right customer, at the right time.” Addressing, and evangelizing, the “Internet of Customers”, Salesforce is actively making strong forays into this space. You might know that we have an SSO with Salesforce.com that addresses a key need of the marketplace – learn about it on our WHAT’S NEW PAGE.

We are delighted that these technology powerhouses have realized the potential of IoT and are making it available to their customers. At Glassbeam, we are focused only on offering the best IoT analytics solutions available and have enabled many companies to unlock new insights into their customer service, new product development and other key disciplines. As more and more companies learn the potential of IoT, we look forward to working with them to maximize the opportunities IoT creates.
