A feather in our (academic) cap

Thursday, May 21, 2015

We spent the better part of the day in the verdant campus of UC, Santa Cruz. And for good reason – Glassbeam is FUNDING a new Center of Excellence at the University to help create stronger competencies in the area of Data Science research.

We are no strangers to UCSC. Our Charmain and Chief Strategy Officer, Kumar Malavalli, has an ENDOWED CHAIR at the University and is a well-known figure at the Jack Baskin School of Engineering. Today’s announcement is a further endorsement of the strengths of UCSC and our commitment to forging an effective bond between academia and industry to further the cause of research is important areas of computer science.

We’re looking to partner with the university in multiple areas – co-authoring research papers, having their students engage with us on projects, and in general to create a synergistic relationship that will propel the science of machine data analytics to higher levels – by fostering new computational, mathematical, and statistical research in order to support discovery and decision making from complex, heterogeneous data.
